Unpredictable as life is, making promises and commitments is a naive business. The only promise a matured person can make is: I will do the best I can.

In the (seemingly) hostile and violent universe the biggest curse on humans is their consciousness, and the greatest gift to them is their ability to think and reason. Everyone who has the curse has to use the gift to the best. That's the only possible redemption.

Friendship is not (necessarily) about keeping in touch, or being there in each other's need, even. It's just the way we regard the person. Only those who understand this can remain friends forever.
